What is AYAME?

AYAME is Cube Sat, a microsatellite started in November 2025 and developed by students at Chiba Institute of Technology having technical back grounds and unique characteristics.

Also, AYAME is an educational project in order to develop high-level engineers by the Planetary Exploration Research Center (PERC).

Why “AYAME”？

The flower language of the Iris (Ayame) is “Strong Hope,” a meaning born from the sight of the flower growing straight and resilient during the rice-planting season, symbolizing a prayer for life-giving rain. From Greek mythology, it also carries the meaning of “Good News” or “Glad Tidings.”

The APRS mission of our sixth satellite aims to share the tradition of Omikuji—Japanese fortune-telling—with people worldwide through satellite communication. We named the satellite AYAME to reflect our firm resolve: to deliver “good news” to the world and to ensure that our mission data—truly glad tidings for humanity—always reaches Earth.
